On Thursday 7th June, the ABC reported that “Federal Government scientists have started surveying the Cooper Basin in south-west Queensland in a search for geothermal hot rocks.

Geoscience Australia's Dr Ian Lambert says ‘We're trying to give more definitive information on where companies should be looking. Previous exploration has been based on general assumptions [some companies may dispute this! Ed.]. We're hoping that future exploration after this survey will be based more on factual information.’”

Time will tell.

Newsflash

HDRPL has secured the services of a new Senior Consultant to start with them in their Melbourne office early in 2009. This new consultant will work closely with their Director Roy Baria to build their capabilities in tectonic stress measurement and modelling for geothermal developments. They are very excited, as they we believe these skills will be increasingly important as projects move to Proof of Concept stage.
