Geothermal Resources Limited made a rare announcement on Friday June 29 to declare the successful drilling and casing of their 500 m deep geothermal drill hole, Frome 2.

The same announcement said that Frome 1, drilled earlier in the month, encountered problems and was suspended at 189 m. The drill rig has now moved on to the site of Frome 3, the third well in an eight-hole program to test the prevailing thermal gradients over the top of a predicted hot granite body to the WNW of Broken Hill.
