Geodynamics Ltd updated us on progress at Habanero #3 on Tuesday 4th. The 311 mm (12 ¼”) diameter section of the well was at 3,459 m (11,349 ft) in Patchawarra Formation. Drilling had been slow through the recrystallised Permian sandstones and interbedded coal seams that form the pressure barrier maintaining the overpressures in the underlying granite. Based on previous logging of Habanero #1, rock temperature was 217°C. There remained 340 m (1,115 ft) to complete the 12 ¼” section, which will be cased and cemented before a 216 mm diameter (8½”) open hole section is drilled in the granite. Target depth is approximately 4,300 m (14,100 ft). |
