The Australian Geothermal Energy Association (AGEA) held its first annual general meeting in Melbourne.

Victoria’s Minister for Energy and Resources, Peter Batchelor, addressed the meeting, reaffirming Victoria’s commitment to geothermal energy as one strategy to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Geelong has potential to be a world leader in geothermal energy production

In the Geeolong Advertiser, on the 3rd of June, a story read that Geelong could top an international list of cities on geothermal goldmines. Greenearth Energy has announced an independent consultant's report ranked the greater Melbourne area as the number one in the world for hot energy below its surface. Geothermal energy consultancy Hot Dry Rocks conducted the report, taking data from a 100km radius of 40 international cities that were part of the C40 climate change leadership group.
