Geodynamics Ltd also updated us on progress at Habanero 3 on Tuesday 18th.

The down hole motor mentioned on Tuesday 6th was working as well as hoped. The hole was at 3737 m and drilling on at 12¼” diameter. GDY aims for a further 323 m at 12¼”, and then 192 m of open hole at 8½” diameter.

World's first granite-hosted EGS power plant

Soultz power plant was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on Friday the 13th of June 08. The world's first granite-hosted EGS power plant to feed power into a national grid. The pilot plant of Soultz-sous-Forets (Alsace, France) is the first EGS power plant based on a fractured reservior at 4-4.5 km. A First ORC module of  1.5 MWe is injecting electricity into the power grid.
