Geodynamics Ltd shareholders voted overwhelmingly at a general meeting on Wednesday 19th to accept the Origin Energy farm-in proposal announced on 29th October.

The deal gives Origin a 30% stake in the Habanero project.

There was a flurry of stories in the media following the release of Prof Ross Garnaut’s report on the economic impact of carbon dioxide emission controls. The report recommended that Australia aim for emissions cuts of between 5 and 25% by 2020, and Garnaut explicitly said that geothermal energy could play a key role in achieving those cuts.
