 $20 Million Government Funding for Geothermal

In the Australian on June the 2nd, a story read that The Rudd Government has begun to improve its budget funding for clean energy technologies. The redirection of up to $20 million from solar this year is set to flow into Australia's fledgling geothermal industry.

Geelong has potential to be a world leader in geothermal energy production

In the Geeolong Advertiser, on the 3rd of June, a story read that Geelong could top an international list of cities on geothermal goldmines. Greenearth Energy has announced an independent consultant's report ranked the greater Melbourne area as the number one in the world for hot energy below its surface. Geothermal energy consultancy Hot Dry Rocks conducted the report, taking data from a 100km radius of 40 international cities that were part of the C40 climate change leadership group.
