NSW DPI hosted a roundtable session on Monday 18th for all parties that have expressed an interest in geothermal exploration in the Sydney Basin. The commercial parties were encouraged to negotiate with each other to carve up the basin according to each of their areas of principal interest. |

| The Federal Government has released its White Paper on an emissions trading scheme for Australia. The geothermal sector was hoping for an ambitious target in excess of 15% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020. What we got was a disappointing 5% to a maximum 15%. There is little in the white paper to stimulate the geothermal sector, although a raft of other support measures are being implemented. |
