Torrens Energy Ltd jumped the gun slightly to declare the “world’s first ‘hot rock’ Inferred Resource estimate to comply with the…Australian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Geothermal Resources and Geothermal Reserves.”

The total Inferred Resource at TEYs Parachilna Geothermal Play is 780,000 PJ, based on a ‘stored heat’ estimate by HDRPL. It “demonstrate(s) the enormous potential that hot rock geothermal carries.” To put this number in perspective, Australia’s entire natural gas reserves in 2001 totalled 157,343 PJ.
