The Federal Government has released its White Paper on an emissions trading scheme for Australia. The geothermal sector was hoping for an ambitious target in excess of 15% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020. What we got was a disappointing 5% to a maximum 15%. There is little in the white paper to stimulate the geothermal sector, although a raft of other support measures are being implemented.
