Fundamental to the services provided by Hot Dry Rocks is our state-of-the-art geothermal laboratory located in our South Yarra/Melbourne office. As part of our 186 square meter facility, our laboratory is geared specifically to conduct a full suite of rock property measurements, enabling the characterization of geothermal settings and increasing resource certainty.  Anson Antriasian, our lab manager, and our highly trained lab technicians are unrelenting in their work to provide rapid turnaround times and maintain excellent quality control.

Our in-house laboratory services include:

• Thermal Property Measurements:

• Conductivity, Specific Heat, Diffusivity and Density

• Other physical properties:

• Density
• Water saturation porosity
• Magnetic susceptibility
• Hot Springs Water Chemistry (groundwater geothermometer)

We also conduct:

• Geomechanical & hydrogeological tests under thermodynamic conditions:

• Porosity
• Permeability with overburden pressure
• Uniaxial/triaxial compressive strength

• Heat generation analysis:

• MS whole-rock fusion analysis
• Alpha & Gamma analysis
