WA Greenhouse and Energy Taskforce report released |

The Western Australian Government released a report by the Greenhouse and Energy Taskforce,
which was charged with reporting on practical and economically feasible ways to manage greenhouse gas emissions from the stationary energy sector. The full report is available from http://www.dec.wa.gov.au/. Key recommendations include:
- Recommendation 6.vi: Undertake a detailed identification and assessment of potential sites for...geothermal.
- Recommendation 7.ii: Provide further support for renewable and very low emission energy technologies, including geothermal.
- Recommendation 7.iv: Call for expressions of interest to establish a pilot geothermal (hot dry rock) energy project in WA.
- Recommendation 14.ii: Initiate additional economic analysis...of the likely costs and benefits of key emerging technologies including...geothermal.
